Urgent
Bonus Meeting Slated for Thursday; Members Urged to Attend At the extraordinary membership meeting on Monday evening, the Union officials stated, and members fully agreed, that it is time to demonstrate our anger at the greedy andunrealistic management, our muscle, might and power.
The meeting led to a unanimous decision that every member should try toobserve (and, if necessary, yell at the insincere management side) at thenext collective bargaining on Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. The place: theconference roomadjacent to the library on the third floor of the PharmaceuticalSciencesadministration building.
The Union will demand that the administration pay 2.5 months as the summer bonus across the board.
As reported earlier, the management proposed to pay 5.7 months to the teaching staff, including 2.4 months on June 30.
The official Union stand, as approved Monday, maintains that no bonus cuts are acceptable, particularly because the management refuses to fully disclose books and
annual executive compensation.
As is well known, when a business corporation tries to resolve financial problems, the management first tries to shed cab and ad expenses. If this does not work, then, executives choose to reduce their own rewards.
It's a pity that nothing of this sort is being tried at Hokuriku University. The game here is greedy folks vs. poor hardworking staff. This simply has to come to an end, members naturally insisted.
The Union wants to exert pressure on the greedy management members, including the shameless mid-managers, at the Thursday negotiations.
